Long-term Supply

SEN Teaching Assistant, Wakefield

Wakefield, West Yorkshire

Are you the kind of person who notices the small wins, like a first word signed or a task finished without prompting? GAC Education is recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants for primary, secondary and specialist schools across Wakefield and the wider district, with long term and day to day supply available.

About the Role

You will support children and young people with a range of special educational needs, which may include autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, learning difficulties and SEMH. Some bookings are one to one with a pupil who has an EHCP. Others see you supporting a small group or working across a class alongside the teacher. The aim is always the same: helping each pupil take part, feel settled and make progress at their own pace. You will use the strategies already in place for each child, from visual timetables and now and next boards to sensory breaks, and share what you notice with the class teacher and SENCO. Your consultant will talk you through the setting, the age group and the needs involved before you agree to anything. Email your CV to office@gac.education with "SEN Teaching Assistant, Wakefield" in the subject line, or call our Yorkshire desk on 0113 460 1938 for an informal chat first.
