1 to 1 and Small Group Tuition Across Warrington

Virtual Schools, council SEN and commissioning teams, and schools across Warrington can contact GAC Education to find a tutor. We look for someone within easy reach of the pupil, then work with you on a plan that fits their needs.

The four kinds of tuition we cover

Looked after and previously looked after children

Who it's for

Children in care, and previously looked after children, supported by a Virtual School

How it works

We plan the tuition with the Virtual School around the child's personal education plan (PEP). You can read how Pupil Premium Plus works on the looked after children page.

Children out of school

Who it's for

Children who are unwell, excluded or waiting for a school place

How it works

Home or online tuition arranged by the council, with a tutor who can easily reach the town (for example Stockton Heath, Birchwood, Lymm). There is more on the children out of school page.

SEND and EHCP tuition

Who it's for

Children with an EHCP or on SEN support, arranged by the council SEN team, the school or parents

How it works

1 to 1 tuition across central Warrington, Great Sankey, Birchwood and Lymm, shaped around the child's needs. There is more on the SEND tuition page.

School catch up and exam preparation

Who it's for

Pupils working towards KS2 SATs, GCSEs or resits

How it works

Tuition your school pays for, for one pupil or a small group, for example a GCSE group in Lymm or primary catch up in Great Sankey. There is more on the catch up and exams page.

A tutor close to home, across the borough

Lymm and Culcheth are a different trip from the town centre, so we look for a tutor close to where the pupil lives or learns.

  • Central and west: central Warrington, Penketh and Great Sankey.
  • East: Birchwood.
  • South of the Mersey: Stockton Heath.
  • Outer towns: Lymm and Culcheth.

How to find a tutor

Call 0151 404 9965 or use the contact form. It helps if you can tell us:

  1. The town, and that the council area is Warrington Borough Council.
  2. Which kind of tuition it is: a child in care, a child out of school, SEND or EHCP, or school catch up and exams.
  3. The pupil's year group, the subjects and what you would like the tuition to achieve.
  4. Who is paying for it: the Virtual School, the council SEN team or the school.

We will then talk it through with you and agree a plan that suits the pupil.

Every tutor goes through our safer recruitment checks before they meet a pupil. That includes an enhanced DBS with a children's barred list check and references, in line with Keeping children safe in education 2026.
