What does a cover supervisor do?
Cover supervisors deliver pre-set lessons, manage classroom behaviour and ensure work is completed when the regular teacher is absent. They are not expected to plan lessons or assess work. That distinguishes them from supply teachers.
Are cover supervisors qualified teachers?
Not necessarily. Many of our cover supervisors are graduates, ex-LSAs, or aspiring teachers with strong subject knowledge and excellent behaviour management. All are DBS checked and screened for classroom presence.
How is a cover supervisor different from a supply teacher?
Cost, scope and qualification. Cover supervisors deliver work the absent teacher has set, which makes them ideal for short-term, planned cover. Supply teachers can plan and assess and are the right call for longer-term absence.
