Specialist 1 to 1 and Group Tuition for Local Authorities, Schools and Families

When a pupil needs extra teaching, Virtual Schools, council SEN teams, social workers and schools can contact GAC Education to find a tutor. We listen to what the pupil needs, look for a tutor close to where they live, and agree a plan with you. Every tutor is checked in line with Keeping children safe in education 2026.

How we can help, depending on your role

For Virtual Schools

You hold the Pupil Premium Plus budget and agree each child's personal education plan (PEP) with their school. Get in touch and we will look for a tutor whose sessions work towards the PEP targets.

  • Funding rate: £2,690 per pupil for the 2026 to 2027 financial year, as set out in the DfE pupil premium technical note.
  • PEP alignment: we plan sessions around the PEP targets, and agree with you how they are recorded so you have what you need for PEP reviews.

For social workers and fostering agencies

If tuition is part of the plan for a child in care, or for a child who is out of school while they wait for a place or because they are unwell, you can contact us to find a tutor.

  • What to tell us: the year group, the subjects, where the child is living and learning, and who is paying for the tuition.
  • Carers: foster carers and kinship carers are welcome to get in touch alongside the social worker or the Virtual School, so the tuition stays joined up with the plan.

For SEN teams and designated teachers

  • SEND and EHCP tuition: SEN teams, schools and parents can ask us about 1 to 1 tuition funded through an EHCP. There is more on the SEND tuition page.
  • If you are a designated teacher, we can work with you and the Virtual School on tuition that follows the child's PEP.
  • School catch up and exams: if your school wants to pay for catch up, KS2 SATs or GCSE resit tuition, you can arrange it with us directly, separate from Pupil Premium Plus or an EHCP. See the catch up and exams page.

How we work with children in care

Children in care have often been through a lot of change. What helps is a steady, familiar adult and sessions they can predict.

  • Trauma informed: we ask tutors to work in a trauma informed way, with calm, well structured sessions and, wherever possible, the same tutor each time.
  • Funding: Pupil Premium Plus for children in care is managed by the Virtual School Head. Previously looked after children attract the same rate, paid to their school. There is more on the looked after children page.
  • Safeguarding: every tutor goes through our safer recruitment checks before they meet a pupil, including an enhanced DBS with a children's barred list check and references, in line with Keeping children safe in education 2026.
