Looked after and previously looked after children
Who it's for
Children in care, and previously looked after children, supported by a Virtual School
How it works
Virtual Schools, council SEN and commissioning teams, and schools across Bradford can contact GAC Education to find a tutor. We look for someone within easy reach of the pupil, then work with you on a plan that fits their needs.

| Looked after and previously looked after children | Children in care, and previously looked after children, supported by a Virtual School | We plan the tuition with the Virtual School around the child's personal education plan (PEP). You can read how Pupil Premium Plus works on the looked after children page. |
| Children out of school | Children who are unwell, excluded or waiting for a school place | Home or online tuition arranged by the council, with a tutor who can easily reach the town (for example the city, Shipley, Keighley). There is more on the children out of school page. |
| SEND and EHCP tuition | Children with an EHCP or on SEN support, arranged by the council SEN team, the school or parents | 1 to 1 tuition across Bradford, Keighley, Bingley and Ilkley, shaped around the child's needs. There is more on the SEND tuition page. |
| School catch up and exam preparation | Pupils working towards KS2 SATs, GCSEs or resits | Tuition your school pays for, for one pupil or a small group, for example a GCSE group in Keighley or primary catch up in Eccleshill. There is more on the catch up and exams page. |
The Bradford district is made up of very different towns, so we look for a tutor close to where the pupil lives or learns.
Looking for school staff rather than a tutor? Visit the Bradford location page.
Call 0113 460 1938 or use the contact form. It helps if you can tell us:
We will then talk it through with you and agree a plan that suits the pupil.
Every tutor goes through our safer recruitment checks before they meet a pupil. That includes an enhanced DBS with a children's barred list check and references, in line with Keeping children safe in education 2026.
It is the same team, but a different council. Bradford Council looks after the Bradford district, and a child looked after by Bradford stays with Bradford's Virtual School even if their school is nearer Leeds. Call 0113 460 1938 for either, and just let us know which district the pupil is in.
The whole district, not just the city. That includes Keighley, Shipley, Bingley and Ilkley, and places such as Queensbury, Tong and Eccleshill. Tell us the town and we will look for a tutor nearby.
Call 0113 460 1938 or use the contact form. Tell us whether the pupil is in Bradford, Keighley, Shipley, Bingley or Ilkley, the kind of tuition, the year group and subjects, what you would like the tuition to achieve, and who is paying for it.
