SEND and EHCP funded tuition
1 to 1 tuition for children with special educational needs and disabilities, with or without an EHCP. For council SEN teams, schools and parents.
Tuition for children with SEND
We find tutors for children with special educational needs and disabilities. Sometimes the tuition is written into an education, health and care plan. Sometimes a school or SEN team arranges it as SEN support, without an EHCP. We can help with both. If your school simply wants exam preparation or catch up, have a look at the schools page.
Looking for SEN teachers or teaching assistants instead? They are on the SEND hub.
EHCP funded tuition
If the tuition is part of an EHCP, let us know when you get in touch. We will ask what the plan says the tuition is for, which area of learning it covers, and who is arranging it: the school, the SEN team or someone else named in the plan.
That might be reading, writing, maths or another subject the plan picks out. We then look for a tutor with the right experience for that child, and every tutor we put forward has an enhanced DBS.
SEN teams, parents and schools
SEN teams and schools can contact us to find a tutor, and parents are welcome to get in touch too. When a parent contacts us, we will ask who is paying for the tuition so everyone is clear from the start.
If a child in care also has SEND, the Virtual School will usually be involved. Use the looked after children page when the tuition is funded through Pupil Premium Plus and planned around the PEP, and mention that there is an EHCP too.
Safeguarding
Every tutor goes through our safer recruitment checks before they meet a pupil. That includes an enhanced DBS with a children's barred list check and references, in line with Keeping children safe in education 2026.
How to get started
Tell us the year group, the subject or learning need, whether there is an EHCP, and who we should speak to at the school or the council. We will look for a tutor who suits the child, then agree with the school or SEN team how the sessions will run.

Frequently asked questions
Is SEND tuition the same as EHCP funded tuition?
EHCP funded tuition is one part of it. Some children have an education, health and care plan that includes tuition. Others get SEN support in school without a plan. We can help with either, so just tell us whether an EHCP is paying for the tuition.
Who can get in touch?
Council SEN teams, schools and parents. Parents can use the contact form, and we will ask whether a school, the council or an EHCP is paying for the tuition.
Do you recruit SEN staff as well as tutors?
Yes, but that is a separate service. SEN teachers, teaching assistants and SENCOs are on the SEND hub. This page is about tuition.
What checks do tutors have?
Every tutor goes through our safer recruitment checks before they meet a pupil, including an enhanced DBS with a children's barred list check and references, in line with Keeping children safe in education 2026.
