SEN Teaching Assistant, One to One Autism Support in Bradford
Bradford, West Yorkshire
Do you notice the small signs that a child is starting to struggle, long before anyone else does? GAC Education is recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants to give one to one support to autistic pupils in primary schools across Bradford and the wider district.
About the Role
Good autism support is often quiet work. It is spotting a change in breathing before overload, knowing when to step back and keeping the day predictable. You will work alongside one pupil through the school day, in a mainstream class or a specialist setting, using tools such as now and next boards, visual timetables and social stories. Because consistency matters so much to the child, these bookings are long term. You will get to know their triggers, their interests and the things that help them regulate. Bookings come from across the district, from Shipley and Baildon down to Wibsey and Queensbury. Before you agree to anything, we will talk you through the pupil's needs and the support involved.
