Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant for Autism Support in Chester
Chester, Cheshire
Do you understand why an autistic teenager might hold it together all day and then struggle later? Secondary schools across Chester and nearby Ellesmere Port need SEN Teaching Assistants who get that.
About the Role
Many autistic young people mask through the school day, and the effort can be exhausting. You will support them in mainstream lessons and at the less structured times, such as break, lunch and moving between rooms. That might mean helping a pupil plan their day, preparing them for a change, or explaining instructions in a clearer way. Calm spaces matter, and you will help pupils use them well. You will share updates with the SENCO and form tutor. Bookings are long term, because consistency makes such a difference, in areas including Blacon, Upton and Hoole. A calm, respectful approach matters more than any one qualification.
