Reception and Key Stage 1 Teaching Assistant in Leeds

Leeds, West Yorkshire

Can you be warm one minute and firm about tidy up time the next? We are looking for Teaching Assistants who love working with four to seven year olds in primary schools across Leeds and nearby.

About the Role

Early years and Key Stage 1 classrooms are busy, noisy and full of small breakthroughs. On a typical day you might run a phonics group, help a child settle after a wobbly drop off and keep an eye on the outdoor area during continuous provision. Work comes in as day to day cover and short runs of days, when schools in places such as Chapel Allerton, Moortown, Morley and Middleton ask for extra hands. You tell us which days you are free. Your consultant matches you to bookings that suit your experience and your journey, and explains what each school expects before you arrive. If you have nursery or Reception experience, this is a natural next step into supply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run short phonics and early reading groups
  • Help children settle at the start of the day and after lunch
  • Set up and supervise continuous provision, indoors and outside
  • Model kind, clear language when children fall out
  • Pass on anything important to the class teacher at home time

Requirements

  • Experience in Reception, Key Stage 1 or a nursery
  • Some knowledge of a phonics scheme is a real plus
  • A cheerful, patient way with very young children
  • Willing to travel to different schools across Leeds
  • All roles are subject to an Enhanced DBS with Children's Barred List check, references and right to work checks.

What We Offer

  • £85 to £100 per day, based on your experience
  • A dedicated consultant on 0113 460 1938 who gets to know you
  • Pick the days that work around your week
  • Help with your checks and no fees to you
  • Consideration for longer Reception and KS1 roles
