KS1 HLTA with Phonics Focus in Halifax
Halifax, West Yorkshire
Are you the person colleagues ask when a Year 1 reader gets stuck on their sounds? Infant teams across Halifax and Calderdale want HLTAs who teach phonics well and can cover a class confidently.
About the Role
Children who fall behind with phonics early can struggle for years. You will deliver daily phonics sessions following the school's own scheme, run catch up groups for pupils who need extra practice and assess progress so the KS1 lead knows where each child is. Alongside this, you will cover whole classes during PPA and planned absence. Pupils with SEND across Year 1 and Year 2 may need extra support from you too. Bookings are long term, which lets you see readers grow in confidence. Work covers the whole valley, from Hebden Bridge and Todmorden down to Elland and Brighouse.
