HLTA with EAL Experience for Bradford Primary Schools
Bradford, West Yorkshire
Have you helped a child go from a few words of English to joining in with the class? Bradford primary schools need HLTAs who can plan language rich sessions and cover classes with confidence.
About the Role
Many classrooms across Bradford include children learning English alongside everything else. You will combine class cover during PPA with targeted groups for new arrivals and early stage EAL learners. That means building vocabulary through talk, pictures and practical activities, and helping teachers adapt tasks so every pupil can access the lesson. You will also keep track of progress in spoken and written English. Bookings are long term, which lets you see the difference week by week. Work covers areas such as Manningham, Girlington, Allerton and Thornton. A second community language is welcome but not essential. What matters most is patience and a good ear for how children pick up language.
