Long-term Supply

Cover Supervisor, Wakefield

Wakefield, West Yorkshire

Could you walk into a Year 9 classroom, take the register and have everyone settled and working within five minutes? GAC Education is recruiting Cover Supervisors for secondary schools across Wakefield and the wider district, with day to day and long term work available.

About the Role

When a teacher is absent, a Cover Supervisor keeps learning on track. You will deliver lessons that have been planned and set by the class teacher, across a wide range of subjects, and make sure pupils understand the task and get on with it. You are not expected to plan or teach new content, but you will need to explain instructions clearly, answer questions and keep the room calm and purposeful. Applying the school's behaviour policy consistently is a big part of the job, as is leaving clear notes for the teacher about what was covered and how the class worked. It suits graduates thinking about teaching, experienced teaching assistants ready for the next step, and anyone who is confident with teenagers. Your consultant will explain each school's routines and expectations before your first day. Email your CV to office@gac.education with "Cover Supervisor, Wakefield" in the subject line, or call our Yorkshire desk on 0113 460 1938 for an informal chat first. You can find more secondary and support roles in the area on our [Wakefield page](/locations/wakefield).
