Are you a confident graduate or aspiring teacher looking for hands-on classroom experience? We are recruiting a Cover Supervisor for a long-term placement in a large, well-led secondary school in Bradford — a brilliant opportunity for anyone considering teacher training.
About the Role
You will deliver pre-planned cover lessons across a wide range of subjects, manage classroom behaviour and ensure pupils stay on task during teacher absence. The school provides full induction and the chance to observe outstanding practitioners across departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver work set by the absent teacher across KS3 and KS4.
- Maintain a calm, focused classroom using the school's behaviour policy.
- Take registers and follow safeguarding and reporting procedures.
- Provide written feedback to the class teacher at the end of each lesson.
- Support the wider pastoral and behaviour team where needed.
Requirements
- Degree (or equivalent) is essential.
- Confident communicator with strong behaviour management skills.
- Previous experience working with secondary-age pupils is desirable.
- Genuine interest in education — ideal for prospective ITT applicants.
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
