Behaviour Support Worker for School Reintegration in Wakefield
Wakefield, West Yorkshire
Could you help a young person walk back through the school gates after months away? Schools and alternative provision across Wakefield and the surrounding towns need Behaviour Support Workers for reintegration work.
About the Role
Coming back after an exclusion, a managed move or a long absence is hard. Pupils need someone on their side who helps them face lessons again one step at a time. You will support pupils on phased or reduced timetables, mentor them to rebuild routines and confidence, and liaise with pastoral staff about progress and concerns. When things get tense, you will use calm, restorative approaches. Detailed records help the school decide when a pupil is ready for more. Bookings are long term across Wakefield, Normanton, Hemsworth and Featherstone. Persistence is the key quality, because progress is rarely a straight line.
