Behaviour Support Worker for Alternative Provision in Leeds

Leeds, West Yorkshire

Are you the kind of adult who keeps turning up, keeps your word and keeps expectations high without raising your voice? Alternative provision settings across Leeds and the surrounding area need Behaviour Support Workers just like that.

About the Role

Young people usually arrive in alternative provision after mainstream school has stopped working for them. Many are wary of adults, and trust takes time. You will work with secondary aged young people in small groups and one to one, mixing classroom support with mentoring and helping them handle conflict without things escalating. Some days are calm and productive. Others test your patience, and that is when consistency matters most. You will follow risk assessments and behaviour plans, talk things through after incidents and record what happened clearly. Bookings are long term because these settings value familiar faces. Experience in youth work, residential care or SEMH schools all transfers well, and your consultant will brief you fully on each setting first.
